Q. i need to locate evidenced based articles on dengue fever, how do i go about that?
Well a way to get started looking for articles on that subject is using one of our databases. If you use Ovid Medline, which has a quick link from our main library page, you can create a search by first typing in evidence based. Once you do that it will take you to a page where you can select the box Evidence-Based Medicine, with an option to explode the topic. Click the boxes for EBM, explode, and in clude all subheadings and click on continue. You should get 46767results. For the next line I typed in (evidence based or EBM).ti,ab.
This searches the title and the abstract for those terms, and I had 45129 results. Ok, so let us see what we get for dengue fever. type in dengue fever. it will then take you to a page with the option to explode the term. Click the boxes for Dengue, explode, and include all subheadings and continue. I got 4494 results. Now comes the fun part! On the search page click the boxes for the first two search lines, and then combine them with OR. This should give you 74459 results. Now click the Dengue fever search box and the 4th box and combine with the word AND. When I did that I got 22 results. we can probably get a few more results if we did some further searching for dengue as a title and abstract search and then combined that with OR to the MESH term search. I just wanted to show you a pretty quick and simple search strategy. I hope it helped!
